How do smart locks work as access control systems?

Smart locks eliminate the need for a key. Connected to a smartphone, they can be locked and unlocked remotely. To open the door, you don't need to take your phone out: just touch the lock with your smartphone in your pocket.

An application allows you to authorise access to certain individuals who will be recognised by their smartphone and to know the times at which they had access to the premises. 

Smart locks use batteries. In the event of a failure, it is still possible to use “traditional” keys.

Currently, there are very few models of smart locks, all of which operate according to Bluetooth SMART security standards.
