What is the definition of a mechanical push-button lock?

With a mechanical push-button lock, opening the door is only possible after entering a confidential code (consisting of numbers and / or letters) using the keypad. It is this code or PIN which acts as the key. Mechanical keyless locks can be used both indoors and outdoors. There is no need for a power supply to install this type of lock; they therefore always operate even in the event of a power failure.

Note that some mechanical push-button locks can also be opened with a key, and the code or PIN can be changed at will. Note that exiting the room is usually possible without having to key in the code (door lock unlocked).

There are separate bolts which work on the same principle as push-button door locks.
