how do they work

How to use a car GPS tracking system? GPS(Global Positioning System)  technology uses satellite-guiding systems so that the driver of any vehicle, but also his or her employer, can know where this vehicle is at any point in time.

GPS vehicle tracking systems or GPS geolocation uses satellite guidance systems. Satellites form a mesh in space and serve as reference points for GPS navigators to determine a position using geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude).

This system is designed so that there are always at least four satellites identifiable by GPS navigators at any given time.

Equipped with an electronic chip, the onboard GPS unit in a vehicle picks up the signals transmitted by a network of satellites to calculate its geographical position, accurate to within 10 to 15 metres. A GPS unit usually updates its position every second, or even more often.
