Yes of course, there are CCTV surveillance cameras which can work at night. They are in fact essential tools to keep your goods under surveillance and protect your premises from burglary when your premises are empty. 

You can find CCTV surveillance camera models capable of switching to day mode or night mode depending on detected brightness. Several types of equipment allow night vision CCTV surveillance: day / night cameras, infrared cameras and dome cameras. 

When considering mini cameras and spy cameras, make sure that night vision is a supported feature.

Several technologies allow night vision:

• Light intensifiers to amplify weak light sources (moon, stars, etc.), but they require complex, bulky and fragile equipment.
• Thermal systems which are sensitive to certain wavelengths and translate the detected temperature into visible gray levels visible on recorded images.
• Infrared can illuminate a place with rays invisible to the naked eye and therefore result in a perfect image in total darkness. Please note that on some models, the infrared diode is visible and therefore makes it easy to spot the presence of a camera.
