What areas size can CCTV surveillance cameras cover?

The larger the area you want to monitor, the more surveillance cameras you will need…

For a small room, a webcam connected to a PC may be sufficient.

For less than 750 square feet, one or two cameras are usually enough. But of course, it also depends on the layout of your premises, the height at which you install the camera, the viewing angle of this camera...

Maximum area covered and operational distances are indicated in the technical specifications of the CCTV surveillance camera.

Entry-level CCTV surveillance cameras can film from 20 metres out; more expensive models can cover 50 metres or even 80 metres.

The type of camera chosen can also influence the coverage area: PTZ cameras (with Pan, Tilt and Zoom control option) can cover a larger area than a fixed installation.

Some cameras can record sound. This would be mentioned in the product sheet. For example, dome cameras with a built-in microphone do record sound. Other cameras will only record video. It's up to you to define your needs.
